Set in the heart of the Burj Khalifa district, Melia ME Dubai beckons adventurous minds seeking a fusion of art and contemporary culture. Meticulously crafted to fulfill the desires of the discerning traveler, ME Dubai offers a unique elegance that captivates and rewards the curious explorer with its transcendent design, exquisite cuisine, cutting-edge fashion, and vibrant music scene. Esteemed as Dubai's most anticipated design-led luxury hotel, ME Dubai boasts a legacy as the last project designed by the legendary architect Zaha Hadid in 2007, with its doors officially opening in March 2020.

Arturo+Lauren aimed to honor Zaha Hadid's singular hotel design by capturing the vibrant details characteristic of her artistic and design style. They sought to showcase the hotel through the eyes of a traveler, incorporating various hotel facilities within the business bay and using models as potential guests to create an authentic experience for future visitors.

Challenges

Capturing the hotel’s exterior facades presented unique challenges due to the narrow streets surrounding the building. Finca Productions aimed to highlight the rooms' connection to the historic area, particularly their views of the iconic Burj Khalifa. They sought to avoid contrived imagery, instead striving to match the natural sophistication of the space. This challenge extended to ensuring the models appeared organically integrated within the luxurious setting.

Strategy

To maintain a naturalistic aesthetic, Finca Productions had the models interact naturally, depicting scenarios like business travelers meeting, which resonated with the hotel's target demographic. They used view cameras with shift movements to photograph the facades, ensuring straight lines and accurately capturing scale and proportions. As they noted, "It's important to be positioned strategically to make the facade monumental."

Outcome

Finca Productions successfully blended architecture and commercial style in a way that personalized Hadid’s grand design. Their work transcended typical commercial architecture imagery, presenting a seamless integration of art and experience that honored the essence of Zaha Hadid’s vision.
